“How to go VIRAL: From views to business”
This screenshot you see is my client’s insights on one of our Reels that showcase her work. She has a little under 15,000 followers, which she has grown in less than 6 months. However, her video reached almost half a million views. Let’s face it, we all want to know the secret formula to going viral, right?
A video goes viral online when we turn views into shares. It’s the virtual word-of-mouth. As you can see, our video was shared over 7,000 times. According to the Harvard Business Review, a big reasons why people share a video is social motivation, such as shared passions and social utility.
So how do you get your viewers to become sharers using social motivation? This could be with an explicit “Share this with someone that finds this useful”, or implying how your service can be beneficial to them and someone they know. A good trick is playing a scenario which most people often find themselves in. For example, “are you and your friends always having a hard time setting a date for a girls night?” And follow up by showcasing an app where you can sync your schedules and the date where all the girls are free will highlight in blush pink and twinkle bubbly prosecco glasses. Every girl will share this with at least two girlfriends.
It’s important to identify what will motivate your viewer to share your content so you can shape your message to have that outcome.
